Blog + Personal 2018 Goals

Don’t you hate when an entire year goes by – you reflect and realize you didn’t do even half the things you set out to.

Cause I feel like that almost every year.

So I figure I’d share my goals & you can share yours (if you want) and we can hold each other accountable.

Here’s a list of my blogging + personal 2018 goals….

2018 goals

Blog + Business Goals

Can I call my blog a business if it hasn’t made any money yet??

Or is that what they call speaking it into existence?

Posting Consistently

I told myself at the beginning of November that I would start getting ahead on my content.

I’m very proud to announce that I did just that! I’m now working on posts for Quarter 1 of 2018.

The goal is to post once a week, every week in the new year.

This part isn’t exactly planned out yet, but i’m hoping to have all of my blog posts for 2018 written and scheduled by the end of the summer so I can focus on other things.

I work full time and go to school & trying to pop out a blog post a few days before i want to post it does not work for me in any way, shape, or form.

I’ve also noticed that the more often I write the better I get at it (duh, i guess).

But its not just my writing style. My train of thought flows so much easier now & its easier to articulate what it is I’m trying to say.

Just know if you want to improve on any area of your blog – practice makes perfect.

Figure Out Pinterest

*sighs the longest sigh in the history of sighs*

I’ve read a million and one posts on Pinterest traffic strategies, bought ebooks, and courses but I cannot get this freakin platform to work for me.

Sometimes i’m looking at pinterest like “is this thing even on!!??”

It hasn’t been a complete fail – Pinterest is still my number one traffic source. I just can’t seem to figure out how everyone’s getting tens or even hundreds of thousands of page views from this platform.

Not that I’m doubting them in anyway – i’m fully aware of the capabilities of the gem that is pinterest.

I just don’t know why I’m not seeing this crazy, exponential growth even after following tutorials and courses to the T.

Its a little frustrating at times but its just something I have to keep working at in the new year.

(Finally) Make an Income Blogging

This is the year that I would like to finally start making an income from my blog.

Yeap, thats right. I haven’t made a dime from my blog (yet).

In 2018 I would like to launch my first paid product and start generating an income from my little slice of the internet.

I’m also going to share something super scary with you guys.

I set a goal for myself to quit my job Sept. of 2019.

It seems like a long time from now, and it is – almost a full two years.

But its already 2018 – and I have a habit of looking up at the end of a year confused because I didn’t get far enough on my goals as I would have liked to.

So i’m putting it out there for the world. To hold myself accountable and keep on the path to the life I’m trying to create for myself.

Stay tuned for the process 🙂

Personal Goals

Become a Yogi

Well, I don’t know about becoming a full blown yogi but I at least want to become a little more advanced in my yoga practice.

I want to exercise regularly but can’t bring myself to step foot in an actual gym with actual work out equipment.

I’ve already started incorporating mini (and I mean TINY) workouts in the morning, first thing when i wake up and i can already tell the difference in how I feel throughout the day.

I’m too young to be so out of shape and out of breath just from walking up a few flights of stairs.

I really just want to have a healthier lifestyle……but i still love goldfish crackers and twinkies….

See my dilemma here?

One day at a time is all I can say.

Here’s to better health in 2018 🍻

Save a shit ton of money

It wouldn’t be a proper goal show and tell if there wasn’t a financial aspect.

Even when I ask the people around me about things they want to accomplish in 2018 there’s always some sort of “get my financial life in order” part of the equation.

Its the thing every body wants but no one ever seems to have.

As you may or may not know – I live in New York City and I’m a college student. And to say these last two years have been completely exhausting mentally and financially is an understatement.

I’m trying to come up with some sort of savings plan for myself that is both realistic and effective.

If any really good savers are reading this feel free to spill all your secrets in the comments. I’m open to any and all suggestions 😀

Develop Self Discipline

I’ve been trying to focus a lot on personal development lately.

Ya know, reading a lot of self help books & taking in a lot from thought leaders and such.

& I sorta came to the realization that the answer – or key if you will – to most of the things I want or struggle with in my life is self discipline.

Like, literally everything.

My procrastination problem? If I had better discipline I would do the thing I’m procrastinating on even when I don’t feel like it.

My savings problem? If i had the discipline to stash instead of spend – I would have been rich awhile ago. Or at least very comfortable and out of the paycheck to paycheck life.

Almost everything i want for myself and my life is at the mercy of how disciplined I choose to be.

& its something you can think about for yourself as well.

Wanna lose weight? Discipline yourself enough to hit the gym every day.

Wanna grow a business? Discipline yourself enough to build your brand after hours instead of watching Netflix.

The only thing between the person you are and the person you want to be is your discipline.

Its powerful but very scary at the same time because it really airs out the fact that you are the only thing in your way.

Its up to you to create the life you want for yourself.

So get to work!

I honestly have so many more goals. Business and personal – but this article would literally be a novel if i kept going.

If you’ve stuck through this entire post – virtual hugs to you friend.

I pray this new year is filled with blessings and progression in all areas of your life.

And that our blogs see exponential growth not just in vanity metrics but in engagement, community, and friendships.

I would love to hear how your 2017 went & what you have planned for the new year – Leave a comment below! 🙂
